What is the New Orleans
Memorial Stair Climb?
The New Orleans Memorial Stair Climb is not a race, but rather a tribute honoring those that have made the ultimate sacrifice with their life. First responders will climb 78 floors fulfilling that promise to "NEVER FORGET". ALL climbers wear a lanyard with the name and picture of a fallen hero who perished on 9/11/01. The New Orleans Stair Climb will also Honor and Remember those first responders from across the Gulf South who have died in the Line of Duty.
We are committed to hosting a memorial stair climb for the right reasons and not for personal profit or political gain. Every individual on our staff is financially non-compensated and works solely on a volunteer basis. The same principle applies for every member of the Association of Memorial Stair Climbs who our organization is proud to be sanctioned by.

Why We Climb
On the morning of September 11, 2001, hundreds of New York's Bravest and Finest responded to the terrorist attacks in order to perform the largest rescue and high-rise firefighting operation in history. Upon their arrival, firefighters climbed the stairs of the 110 story Twin Towers buildings in forty to sixty pounds of personal protective gear and equipment. Law Enforcement Officers were right there beside them.
The most poignant connection to their story occurs when "we climb, because they climbed".
Witnessing the event provides spectators (family, friends and the general public) both an inspiring experience and intense reminder of the sacrifice, dedication and commitment required of those who serve and protect their communities around the world.
